New Year, New Me.

by Katriona E MacMillan

A Hogmanay poem in the Scots language.

New year, new me.

I cocooned masel on Christmas Eve.

Gained a new set of arms and grew 14 feet,

Pterodactyl wings and a pelican’s beak.

I’ve goat chainsaw hauns noo,

And wasps for ma teeth,

And laser eyes,

And spikes oan ma knees.

I’ve grew fangs

And claws

And a horn on ma heid

Think I’m ready to handle 2023.
